Kenyans were left shocked after it emerged that all the proposed nominees who appeared before the appointing committees chaired by National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula were dollar millionaires.

While a section of Raila allies joined other Kenyans in criticizing President William Ruto for snubbing hustlers in his cabinet, other legislators from the opposition wing have lauded the Head of State.

Embakasi East MP Babu Owino critiqued the First in Command for appointing millionaires to his cabinet saying most of them amassed their wealth through illegal means.

Babu, known for his lavish lifestyle since when he was still in campus said he is not interested in eartly wealth stating that his wealth in in heaven.

“Hii Kenya kuna hustlers na kuna sufferers. Hustlers ni wezi who are currently being interviewed while sufferers ni wakenya waliochini. My wealth is in heaven,” babu Owino said in a Tweet.

However, on his part, Narok Senator Ledama Ole Kina argued that Ruto appointed dollar millionaires into his cabinet so that they may not loot from public coffers.

“I think William Ruto recruited wealthy persons to work for him so that they don’t rape the county by stealing more,” Senator Ledama Ole Kina said.

Makueni senator Dan Maanzo still believes that the figures quoted by the cabinet nominees as wealth were inaccurate.

Aden Duale who was nominated by President William Ruto as Cabinet Secretary for Defence stated that he is worth KSh 851 million while former National Assembly speaker Justin Muturi disclosed that he was worth KSh 700 million.
