Raila and Kalonzo are allies in the war of words over who is misleading Wiper party leader

by Amos Khaemba

Allies of Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party presidential candidate Raila Odinga and chosen the Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka have harshly differed over accusations of some leaders misleading the Wiper leader.

On Friday, May 20, Makau Mutua, the Raila Odinga presidential secretariat spokesman accused three Wiper legislators of misleading the former vice president.

“Kalonzo Musyoka has three advisors who’ve misled him. The trio of Senator Mutula, Wambua, and Dan Maanzo isn’t good for him. The three are ruining his political career and future. He should ditch them. Democracy is about give-and-take. This is what extremists don’t understand.” Mutua said on Twitter.

In a quick response, Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua hit back at Mutua accusing him of misleading the ODM leader by making him think that he does not need the Wiper leader to win the August elections.

Wambua reminded Raila’s spokesman that it’s him who witnessed the secret pact between the ODM leader and Kalonzo Musyoka in 2017 but has been completely disregarded by the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya presidential flag bearer.

“Prof, in 2017 you deliberately (mis)advised my party leader and witnessed the signing of a deal with Raila Odinga which you later disowned. You have no locus to lecture us on how to relate with our leader. You are paid to advise Raila Odinga. And you have already advised him that he does not need Kalonzo Musyoka” Wambua responded.

But Raila Odinga’s ally insisted that the three Wiper lawmakers are only but determined to send Kalonzo Musyoka to political oblivion.

“But I know this — come August, you will be a Senator and Kalonzo Musyoka will be in political Siberia/oblivion. Effectively, you will have ended his political career, but yours will be surging. Perhaps you will replace him as “kingpin.” Mutua said.

On his part, Makueni Senator Mutula Kilonzo Jr hit out at Raila’s spokesman telling him that unsubstantiated claims won’t get Raila sympathy votes.

“I suggest you follow the advice of Wehliye Mohamed. He has not only told you the truth but given you the figures. Picking on the three of us will not get you sympathy. If you doubt, come to Wote” Mutula opined.

The war of words come after the former vice president cut toes with the ODM leader and revived his presidential ambitions by naming Andrew Sunkuli as his running mate ahead of the August polls.

Some political analysts have opined that the strong position taken by the Wiper leader could be because of the advice he is getting from his close allows.
