Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party leader Raila Odinga has maintained that he won the hotly contested 2022 presidential election.
Appearing on Ramogi TV on Monday, February 13, the former Prime Minister claimed that he hired IT experts to spy on the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) servers.
Raila revealed that the IT experts landed in the country days before the August 9, General Election and were based in Athi River.
“We personally looked for IT gurus from abroad who could do investigations,” Raila who lost a presidential bid to President William Ruto in August 2022 claimed.
The former Prime Minister however defended his move saying his IT team hacked IEBC servers not to alter the presidential results but to seek the truth.
“There is something called ethical hacking – which is done with good intentions. They came with their own machines and they were located in Athi River,” Raila added.
Raila asserted that the team found out that the presidential results announced by now-retired IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati were edited in favor of his competitor William Ruto.
He however said he decided to keep the report secret because he did not want to speak on the matter by himself adding that his supporters and Kenyans would have doubted him.
The report on the rigged presidential results was later made public by an IEBC whistleblower while Raila was in South Africa.
A whistleblower within the electoral agency shared intriguing evidence of how the electoral agency manipulated votes.
“Most of the manipulation that was done happened within the Mt. Kenya region. The whistleblower is not hiding his identity …the research was done by a non-profit organization that partners with pro-democracy leaders across Africa,” he said.
