ODM leader Raila Odinga has dismissed accusations of sponsoring violence against Deputy President William Ruto in Kondele, Kisumu county on Wednesday, November 10.

During a radio interview on Thursday, November 11, Raila Odinga said such actions are childish, and he would not get involved in them.

Raila Odinga argued that he is too big to organize violence against someone as small as the former Eldoret North Member of Parliament.

“I am not a child to organize people to throw stones at (Deputy President) William Ruto. Why? Ruto is a very small thing to me,” Raila Odinga said.
The ODM leader argued that William Ruto is a Kenyan, allowed to tour any part of the country without restrictions.
He added that accusing him of the Kondele violence is pure propaganda since the ODM office in Nyanza had endorsed Ruto’s political tour.
“I do not want to be involved in propaganda, I can only speak the truth. Ruto is a Kenyan allowed to go anywhere to sell his manifesto.

“ODM’s Kisumu branch had released a report urging residents to allow Ruto to proceed with his campaigns without interference,” he said.

After witnessing violence in Kisumu county on Wednesday, October 10, Ruto moved to the neighbouring Migori County where he accused Raila of staging the violence.

“The leader of ODM please, Let us not use our children to throw stones and cause violence. These young people deserve jobs and an atmosphere to work,” William Ruto said in a statement to newsrooms.
His accusations came after a report from police that they warned Ruto against touring the troublesome Kondele area.

Police spokesperson Bruno Shioso released a statement saying that Ruto’s security team was warned of the violence by ignored it.
