Raila has zero chance of winning presidency with Ruto controlling Mt Kenya, Rift Valley

by Amos Khaemba

The Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga has expressed confidence in defeating his arch-rival, William Ruto in the August poll.

In the second Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition council meeting chaired by Raila, the coalition is aiming at garnering 15 million votes.

Accorvolumes the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission, 22,102,532 Kenyans registered to vote, meaning DP Ruto will get less than 8 million votes according to Azimio’s projection.

However, exiled lawyer Miguna Miguna on Saturd8ay, June 25 through a Twitter post dismissed the possibility of the ODM leader winning the August polls.

According to Miguna’s projections, the United Democratic Alliance presidential flag bearer has maintained a grip on the vote-rich regions of Mt Kenya and his Rift Valley backyard.

The controversial lawyer further opined that DP Ruto stands a high chance of getting a considerable number of votes from Coast, North Eastern, Western, and Nairobi making it hard for Raila to win.

“With Mount Kenya, North and South Rift regions commanding 10,000,000+ votes while completely under lock and key of William Ruto and UDA Kenya, plus additional votes from Coast, Eastern, North Eastern, Western and Nairobi, there is no way in hell for conman Raila Odinga,” Miguna said.

On Friday, June 24, Kivumbi.co.ke had reported that an analysis of the numbers gazetted by IEBC indicates Ruto has an advantage in the race to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.

According to the IEBC official register, Mt Kenya and Rift Valley considered to be Ruto’s stronghold controls 10, 123,637 registered voters.

Recent polls also indicate that Ruto has managed to infiltrate Western Kenya which has 2,217,948 registered voters thanks to the support from Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetang’ula.

In the Coastal region, DP Ruto is banking on Kilifi and Kwale Governors Amason Kingi and Salim Mvurya to dislodge Raila from the region.

On Thursday, June 23, Gatundu South MP Moses Kuria similarly said there was no viable formula that could propel Raila to State House.

“I have used all formulas including Pythagoras and even dental formulas. I don’t see any single way Raila Odinga can win this election. And that is why even Uhuru Kenyatta has given up on him,” Kuria said in a Facebook post.
