Raila listed alongside world-famous people who attended Leipzig University, Germany

With just days before the much-awaited 2022 presidential elections, questions continue to emerge about the academic qualifications of the Azzimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party 2022 presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga.

On Thursday, June 16, his main rival and UDA presidential flag bearer William Ruto warned the Jubilee government against frustrating Nairobi senator Johnson Sakaja and instead focus on telling people where Raila graduated from and who were his classmates.

Last month, controversial lawyer Miguna Miguna also challenged Raila to produce the original copy of his university degree certificate before being cleared to contest for the presidency.

The Constitution of Kenya 2010 demands that all presidential candidates must hold a degree from a recognized University in Kenya.

However, as questions continue emerging on Raila’s academic papers, it has emerged that the former Prime Minister schooled at Herder Institute, a part of the philological faculty at the University of Leipzig in East Germany.

According to information on the institute’s website, the 2022 presidential election front runner Raila Odinga was listed among the top 100 notable alumni of the Leipzig University based in Germany.

The former Lang’ata MP was listed number 41 on the list of Leipzig University which boasts of world-famous leaders including German politician and scientist Angela Dorothea Merkel.

The University of Leipzig is 62 in the world, 20th in Europe, and 6th in Germany by aggregated alumni prominence.

According to information on his website http://rao.co.ke, Raila went to Kisumu Union Primary School, Maranda Primary, and Maranda High School where he stayed until 1962.

The ODM leader later spent two years at the Herder Institut, a part of the philological faculty at the University of Leipzig in East Germany.

The former prime minister received a scholarship in 1965 that him to the Technical School, Magdeburg (now a part of Otto-von-Guericke University Magdeburg) in the GDR. In 1970.

Speaking in Nyamira County On Thursday, June 16, Kenya Kwanza alliance presidential flag bearer William Ruto challenged his bitter rival to make public his degree certificate.

“Huyo candidate yenu wa rais alisoma wapi, alisoma ni, alisoma na nani alisomeshwa na nani, hamuwezi kujibu hiyo your, alafu mnatuambia ako na degree (Where did your presidential candidate study, did he study, whom did he study with whom)?” William Ruto posed.
