Raila Odinga gives journalist Dennis Onsarigo a big job ahead of August election

Orange Democratic Movement party leader Raila Odinga has appointed ex-journalist Dennis Onsarigo as the new press secretary of his 2022 campaign secretariat.

Through a press release on Sunday, February 14, the ODM leader said Onsarigo will coordinate all media relations needs of his campaign secretariat.

In his new role, Onsarigo will be in charge of Raila’s presidential campaign communications for the forthcoming August 9, General Election.

“He will coordinate all media relations needs of the Raila Odinga 2022 Campaign Secretariat, including media engagement and management,

“Media liaison between the secretariat and coalition partners and work closely with the mainstream media in the dissemination of news and information,” Raila said in the statement.

Onsarigo holds a BA in Communications and Political Science, a Diploma in Broadcast Journalism, and is pursuing Masters of Arts in governance, peace, and security.

Until his appointment, Onsarigo worked as Director of Communications at the Taita Taveta County Government.

Onsarigo has previously worked Kenyas’ leading media stations, Nation and Standard Media Group as the investigations editor and manager.

Former LSK chair and UDA MP aspirant Nelson Havi said “Congratulations my good friend Dennis Onsarigo. I have worked with and against you. You exemplify professionalism in journalism. Serve with distinction,”

“My classmate, Dennis Onsarigo, Congratulations! Wish you well…The People will Decide!,” Dennis Itumbi said.

The appointment comes weeks after Deputy President William Ruto appointed former Citizen TV news anchor Hussein Mohamed to head his Communications.

“Hussein Mohamed, a renowned TV journalist, has been appointed Head of Communications in the William Ruto Presidential Campaign. Welcome to the Hustler team,” Ruto said will announcing Husseins’ appointment.
