Raila Odinga is a lazy politician- Senator Irungu Kang’ata

by Enock Ndayala

Murang’a Senator Irungu Kang’ata has claimed Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader Raila Odinga cannot gain the support of Mt Kenya region because he is a lazy politician.

In an interview with Citizen TV on Wednesday, May 2, Kang’ata dismissed the notion that the people of the vote-rich Mt Kenya are tribal, adding Kikuyus do not like lazy people.

“The idea that the people of Central Kenya dislike Raila Odinga because of ethnicity is not true at all,

“It has everything to do with political laziness. Raila has been staying in Nairobi waiting for some endorsements from political kingpins from Kikuyu land based in the city,” Kang’ata said.

The vocal Tanga Tanga-allied Senator further predicted Raila, who has lost the presidency for the third time in a row, is likely to lose it for the fourth time in the next election if he will sit down and wait to use his political truce with President Uhuru Kenyatta.

According to the former Senate Majority whip, unlike Raila who sits in Nairobi waiting for an endorsement, Ruto has in the recent past gained more popularity in the Mt Kenya region than Raila due to his active engagements with people on the ground

“William Ruto has managed to consolidate his support in the region by engaging with the people directly,” Kang’ata said.

However, Raila who is yet to publicly declare whether he will contest for the country’s top job recently said the main reason why he lost in the recent three presidential election was due to low voter turnout in his turf.

Speaking in Kisumu over weekend, Raila assured his supporters that the 2022 General Election is a do or die saying that this time round he will return with the trophy.
