Raila Odinga, Kalonzo and Gideon Moi to attend Jubilee party’s big meeting

Political analyst Dismas Mokua has claimed President Uhuru is the one who will pick Raila Odinga's running mate ahead of the August polls

ODM leader Raila Odinga and the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) principals are among the 4,000 delegates invited to attend the Jubilee party’s big meeting.

The ruling outfit has scheduled to hold its NDC on February 25 and 26 where the outgoing President Uhuru Kenyatta is expected to formally endorse ODM leader Raila Odinga’s presidential bid.

On Tuesday, February 8, the Jubilee National Management Committee (NMC) and Parliamentary leadership convened to finalise the list of invited guests.

Jubilee party plans to invite Raila and other friendly parties, including the OKA that brings together Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka, KANU chairman Gideon Moi, Cyrus Jirongo of United Democratic Party, and Narc-Kenya leader Martha Karua.

“What we agreed on as far as the NDC is concerned are operational issues on who comes for the convention and how many delegates from each county,

“We are dealing with about 4,000 delegates but we are also cognisant of the Ministry of Health’s Covid-19 guidelines,” said Jubilee Secretary General Raphael Tuju as quoted by the Standard.

The Jubilee spokesperson further said that those who have been declaring allegiance to Deputy President William Ruto’s United Democratic Alliance (UDA) but feel uncomfortable (with Ruto) are highly welcomed.

He however said the party will meet again next week to approve the list of the invited guests.

“Some of those who have been declaring allegiance elsewhere are also planning to come back. You saw Wangui Ngirichi (Kirinyaga Woman Rep) at State House and there are a few more expected to come back,” he disclosed.

Coincidentally, the Jubilee’s NDC and that of the Orange Democratic Movement have been planned to take place on the same dates.

It is however not clear whether the ODM leader will choose to attend the Jubilee’s NDC  or ODM’s big meeting.
