ODM leader Raila Odinga has overtaken his 2022 main challenger William Ruto in popularity ratings, the latest survey released by Infotrak Research and Consulting has revealed.

Raila’s popularity has grown from 13 percent in December last year to 33 percent whereas William Ruto’s popularity has decreased to 32 percent up from 44 percent in December 2020.

According to Infotrak, Raila’s popularity significantly shot up particularly after the Azimio La Umoja Convention on Friday, December 10, where the former Prime Minister declared his candidature.

The survey shows that the opposition chief is more popular in the Coastal region, North Eastern, Western, and Nyanza, while William Ruto is popular in Central, Eastern, Rift Valley, and Nairobi.

The popularity of ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi and his Wiper counterpart Kalonzo Musyoka both stood at 1 percent each whereas a whopping 21 percent are still undecided even as the 2022 elections draw nearer.

However, William Ruto’s political party-UDA remained the most popular political party with 33 percent approval ratings followed closely by ODM at 32 percent.

The poll also found that ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi was the most preferred presidential candidate for the One Kenya Alliance (OKA) to face off with Deputy President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

The findings come at a time the alliance has promised to unveil its 2022 flag bearer next month.

“We want to urge Kenyans to forget about the naysayers who think that OKA is moving slowly, good coalitions and good preparations for elections are never hurried. We have promised Kenyans that by the end of January we shall be unveiling our OKA candidate,” said OKA co-principal Moses Wetang’ula.
