Raila Odinga promises to invite President Uhuru to NASA coalition

ODM leader Raila Odinga has for the first time disclosed that he will only serve one term as the president ahead of the much-awaited 2022 General Election.

NASA Coalition might become a big political force if plans by ODM leader Raila Odinga to recruit President Uhuru Kenyatta succeed.

Speaking during a tour of the Ukambani region on July 9, Raila Odinga said there were talks to bring more political leaders to restructure the NASA coalition.

He revealed his intentions to invite President Uhuru Kenyatta to become a member of the NASA coalition.

“We are talking and we are going to come together your excellency, and we are going to invite you to become a NASA member,” Raila Odinga said.

In the occasioned graced by Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka and Ukambani counties governors Kivutha Kibwana (Makueni), Charity Ngilu (Kitui), and Alfred Mutua (Machakos), Raila bragged about how big the coalition will be.

“I feel very proud to be here today. Kalonzo has said that Kivutha Kibwana was a member of Wiper, but I want to remind him that Charity, Kivutha and himself are part of NASA,” he remarked.

Before publicly calling on Uhuru to join NASA, Raila Odinga and Kalonzo Musyoka had been invited to State House by the President.

Confirmed reports indicated that the duo met Uhuru on July 6, where they discussed how to broker a truce in preparations for the 2022 General Election.

According to State House Spokesperson Kanze Dena Mararo, the President is unhappy with leaders’ continued attacks as he hopes to unite them and extinguish his Deputy William Ruto’s dream of succeeding him.

“The president was concerned about their public attacks, which he observed were not good for the unity he desires for the country ahead of next year’s General Election,” Kanze Dena told the Daily Nation.
