As the race for 2022 presidential elections gains momentum, leaders from the Lower Eastern region are upping the pressure on ODM leader Raila Odinga to support Wiper Party Kalonzo Musyoka for the top seat.

Led by Kitui Senator Enoch Wambua, the leaders have called on the 2017 NASA presidential flag bearer to shelve any presidential ambitions in favor of Kalonzo just like he did in the last two recent General Elections.

“Raila should not be forced or pushed to support Kalonzo. It should be natural for him to back Kalonzo because that is what they agreed,” Senator Wambua told the Star Newspaper.

Kitui Central MP Makali Mulu amplified Wambua’s calls noting that it was time for the former prime minister who is currently crafting a pre-election pact with Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee party to show political honesty by supporting Kalonzo.

“He (Kalonzo) has supported Raila twice and they lost together. Raila should support Kalonzo this time round if he is being fair,” Mulu said.

Kalonzo and Raila have been verbally attacking each other in the media, seemingly not supporting each other despite working together in the last two elections.

Raila, who is yet to publicly declare if he will contest for the presidency in the 2022 General Election last week took a swipe at his fellow NASA co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka asking him to stop barking around.

“I have not announced whether or not I will be contesting for the presidency yet some people are already saying they will not support me… stop barking around,” Raila roared while in his tour at the Coast region.

His utterances came barely a day after the former Vice-President vowed not to support Raila Odinga for Presidency for a third time saying he would be the most stupid person in the world if he supported Raila for the 2022 presidency.

“I am not a weakling… Raila and I have never sat to discuss 2022. I will be the most stupid person on earth to support Raila Odinga for president for the third time without a measure of reciprocity,” Kalonzo Musyoka said in an interview with NTV.
