“Kazi ya wanaume ni sekunde moja tu, si unaona kuku akiwa pale.. na anamaliza haraka. Halafu kazi yote inabaki kwa mama tu..
(The work of men takes one second like chicken. Then the woman is left with all the other work ), ” Raila Odinga said in an apparent reference to how it only takes a quick sexual act to get a woman pregnant.

The comments from the ODM leader left the crowd in stitches as he called on women to be treated well in society because they sacrifice a lot for the sake of their children.

“Saa zingine mtoto ako na hali mbaya, ni mama anamshughulikia. Ananyonyesha mpaka mtoto akuwe mkubwa. Baada hiyo yote unadharau mwanamke..lazima tuheshimu akina mama, bila wao hatungekuwa hapa

(Sometimes the child is unwell, the mum attends to them. Breastfeeds them until they grow up. After all that, they are disregarded, we should respect them, without them we wouldn’t be here),” he added.

Raila Odinga said that the only way the nation can develop is through giving priorities to women.

On his part, Raila has been treating his wife Ida Odinga to public display of affection.

On big days such as mother’s day and her birthday, Raila is fond of showering Ida with sweet messages on social media.

The ODM leader also tells a story of his mother Mary Juma, who died while he was in detention.
On May 9, 2021 Raila Odinga rekindled memories of his mother to celebrate mothers day.

“My mother passed away while I was in detention. I was formally informed about it two months after her demise. My mother like the millions of others was special and unique,” he wrote in a social media post.
