Raila Odinga terms Ruto-Muslaia alliance ‘coalition of thieves’

by Enock Ndayala

ODM leader Raila Odinga has criticised the proposed political coalition Kenya Kwanza Alliance bringing together William Ruto, Musalia Mudavadi and Moses Wetangula terming it as a coalition of thieves.

Speaking on Sunday, January 30, when he held a tour of the city, the former prime minister said the alliance was pulled together by the urge to continue with the plunder of public resources.

“Thieves have ganged up in one corner and they are now three. One thief has called his two colleagues and they are in one corner but Kenyans are in all corners,” Raila said in an indirect reference to William Ruto, Mudavadi, and Wetangula.

While revisiting various scandals that Ruto and Mudavadi were heavily linked to, the opposition chief accused ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi of not only milking the country dry through the Goldenberg and Anglo-leasing but also grabbing City Council Cemetery Land.

He further accused William Ruto of grabbing Langata Primary land, Kimwarer, and Arror dams scandal as well as the importation of maize when he was the Agriculture minister.

Ford Kenya leader Moses Wetang’ula was forced to resign from the Cabinet in October 2010 after being linked to the Tokyo embassy property scandal but was later cleared of any wrongdoing.

“One was my deputy (Musalia Mudavadi) as the Prime Minister and all he did was to steal cemetery land and his accomplice is still in jail. One was Agriculture minister (William Ruto) and was involved in the importation of maize,” Raila said.

President Uhuru Kenyatta’s handshake partner also insisted that the new grouping led by Ruto and Mudavadi is tainted and urged electorates to reject them at the ballot in August.

“I have enough evidence that they are thieves. Those are not people to lead this country,” Raila Odinga went on.

He said his Azimio la Umoja movement was the better option for Kenyans saying he was more than ready to face the Kenya Kwanza team head-on and scuttle their plans during the August 9 General Election.
