Raila Odinga to Kalonzo: Stop barking aimlessly

by Nderi Caren

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has thrown some shade at his fellow NASA co-principal Kalonzo Musyoka a day after the Wiper leader said he cannot support Raila’s presidential ambition again.

During his tour at the Coast on Thursday, June 17, Raila Odinga responded to kalonzo’s declaration that he would not support him in the 2022 General Election.

In his response, Raila Odinga said he has not publicly declared if he will contest for the presidency in the oncoming General Election.

Therefore, he does not understand why Kalonzo is panicking over the same.

“Sijatangaza mimi nataka kusimama urais, lakini wengine wanasema eti hawawezi kuniunga mkono, nimeuliza wewe uniunge mkono? (I have not announced whether or not I will be contesting for the presidency yet some people are already saying they will not support me.),

“Mimi sijatangaza, sasa wewe unaanza kutetemeka, unaanza kubwekabweka, subiri bwana mambo bado (I have not announced my candidature and some people are shaking, stop barking around,)” said Raila Odinga.

In an interview with NTV on Wednesday, June 16 , Kalonzo said that he would rather go back to his rural home in Tsaikeru other than being Raila’s running mate once again.

The debate on Kalonzo contesting as Raila’s deputy began at the burial of former Kibwezi MP Kalembe Ndile, where Kitui Governor Charity Ngilu called on Raila and Kalonzo to unite in order to defeat William Ruto in 2022.

“If Kalonzo and Raila fail to unite ahead of 2022, then (William) Ruto’s chances of success will be high. How will the Kamba community benefit if they choose to vote for Kalonzo and lose the presidency?” Ngilu argued.

Later on, Kalonzo attended a meeting between Uhuru and Ukambani leaders at State House.

There, Uhuru also urged the NASA co-principals to unite, promising to endorse whomever they will select as their flagbearer.
