Raila Odinga vows to clean his party after losing presidency

by Enock Ndayala

Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition party presidential candidate Raila Odinga on Friday, January 6, made his first political visit to Mombasa County since the year began.

His tour to the region comes just days after President William Ruto toured the county to celebrate New Year.

Speaking after paying a courtesy call to Governor Abdulswamad Nassir at his office, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party vowed to clean the house from the top.

“Mwaka huu tutasafisha chama kuanzia juu hadi mashinani. Nataka kuona wanachana wetu wakifanya kazi pamoja (This year we will clean the party from the top to the grassroots. I want to see our members working together)” Raila said.

Raila who in 2022 promised to drop a bombshell assured his supporters that he will soon roar as he had promised towards the end of last year.

The former Prime Minister further urged supporters that all was not lost as he called on them to remain optimistic, promising that better days were yet to come.

“I said I was going to speak this year, the time is yet to come. But I am going to speak and I am going to speak very well,” Raila told ODM elected leaders and party officials at the Tononoka Social Hall.

“I want you to know that there is still hope, we as ODM and Azimio people will soon be comforted. I want all of you to remain hopeful that it is still possible,” he added.

Kivumbi.co.ke understands that the move to clean his house is to ensure that he defeats President William Ruto in the 2027 presidential elections.

The veteran politician last year maintained that he will not exit the political arena soon in what many predict that he will give a sixth stab at the presidency.
