Raila Odinga’s 2022 running mate could come from Ruto’s camp- analyst

by Enock Ndayala

Political analyst Herman Manyora has opined that Ruto’s hustler camp could accidentally produce Raila Odinga’s running mate in the 2022 General Election.

Manyora in his weekly just in time analysis opined that Odinga could be deputized by Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria.

“It is now almost certain that Raila Odinga is going to run for the Presidency 2022 perhaps with little support from President Uhuru Kenyatta. The question then emerge of who will deputize him,

“The man to deputise Raila Odinga will be a result of an accident. The man is Moses Kuria,” Manyora said.

Manyora argues that Moses Kuria cannot be compared to any of these cosmetic leaders across the Mt. Kenya region as he resonates well with all other leaders in the mountain.

The scholar at the University of Nairobi says Kuria is the undisputed king of Ruto’s hustler nation in the Mt. Kenya region and with support from President Uhuru Kenyatta, Kuria could easily help Raila become the fifth president of Kenya.

According to Manyara, Kuria cannot be equated to other leaders including Murang’a governor Mwangi wa Iria, former Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri and governor Anne Waiguru, who he describes as ‘County political kingpins.’

He said accidents have produced leaders not only in Kenya but across the globe. including Uhuru himself won the 2013 presidency accidentally.

“Who knew that Uhuru will succeed Mwai Kibaki in 2013?” he posed.

Although Odinga has not officially announced his intention to run for president in the next General Election, it is clear that he will have to nominate a running mate from Mount Kenya to ensure he gets a share of the vote-rich region.

Kivumbi.co.ke understands that Raila’s relationship with his deputy party leader Wycliffe Oparanya and the NASA principals has in the recent past been shaky owing to the fact that they too want Raila to endorse one of them for the country’s top job.
