Raila Odinga’s camp dismiss claims from Ruto team the ODM leader is too old

Suna East Member of Parliament Junet Mohamed has been missing in the public eye since IEBC chairman Wafula Chebukati declared William Ruto the president-elect.

Raila Odinga’s camp has dismissed claims by William Ruto’s camp that the ODM leader is too old to engage in campaigns across the country.

Speaking during a meeting at Chungwa House on Tuesday, November 9, Suna East MP Junet Mohammed said that Raila Odinga does not even need to have many rallies in the country.

“This guy has come with a new party called UDA, so he is walking everywhere like a hyena. ODM is known across Kenya, Baba (Raila Odinga) is a brand that is known the whole country,” Junet Mohammed said.

He explained that Raila Odinga’s camp has a different strategy of reaching its supporters, and do not need multiple rallies as claimed by William Ruto’s camp.

“There is no need for us to run everywhere like night runners, the way he is running. We go to one place, conduct one Azimio la Umoja meeting to bring Kenyans together.

They do not want Kenyans to stay together, they want to divide them,” he added.

His sentiments come after Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua claimed that the ODM leader is too old, and his team is stressing him with back-to-back rallies.

Gachagua argued that Raila Odinga wanted to match the energy of William Ruto, yet he is too old to hit the campaign trail with such vigor.

“Those planning for this man, even if we do not agree with him(Raila Odinga), he is also a Kenyan and a child of God. Stop burdening this old man please,” Gachagua said.

He added that Raila Odinga’s health can not allow him to go to several campaigns like Willliam Ruto who can hold 130 rallies in a month.

“They have seen the deputy President doing 15 meetings in a day and planned the same for the old man. He went to Nanyuki… finally in Githurai, the doctor told him to go to Dubai to rest for a week,” the Mathira MP remarked.
