“Kura yako ni sauti yako (your vote is your voice),” he posted as he shared a poster showing his political interest.

Jaoko is the son of former Siaya Senator and current East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) Member of Parliament Oburu Odinga.

Oburu is an elder brother to presidential hopeful Raila Odinga.

Jaoko Oburu is expected to battle it out with comedian and media personality Felix Odiwuor alias Jalas, City-based lawyer, and Raila Odinga’s aide Silas Jakakimba among others.

In May 2021, the comedian-cum radio presenter Jalas, an ardent supporter of the former Prime Minister urged youths to register as voters in mass to help him achieve his ambition.

“I am going to be the MP for Lang’ata. I urge my followers to register as voters in Lang’ata so that we can develop the constituency to another level. I don’t go for things I cannot get,” Jalas said.

His pronouncement came barely days after Silas Jakakimba, a senior advisor at the Raila Odinga’s Capitol Hill-based Secretariat had also announced plans to unseat the current Member of Parliament Nixon Korir.

Korir who is serving his first term won the 2017 parliamentary seat on a Jubilee party ticket but has had a rough time at the helm of the city constituency.

In March 2021, Korir was chased away by angry London ward voters over what they termed as voter bribery.
