Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s party has expelled Machakos ODM chairman Jacob Mule over links with businessman Jimmy Wanjigi.

While terming Mule as a traitor, Machakos branch officials who were addressing journalists on Tuesday, February 22, accused him of revealing Raila’s secrets to his bitter rival Jimmy Wanjigi.

“Today, we have resolved to suspend Jacob Mule and he is no longer supposed to transact any business on behalf of Machakos ODM County Office,” ODM officials said.

They further claimed that Mule, who was newly installed into the position was not supporting President Uhuru Kenyatta’s handshake partner Raila Odinga in his race to the statehouse.

“We had a problem with our newly elected chairman who has not been very cooperative and is not supporting our presidential candidate who is Raila Amolo Odinga,” they said.

The members further accused Wanjigi of scuttling the opposition party in the larger Ukambani region; a move they said has seen the party lose some of its key players to rival parties.

“In the midst of the row between Wanjigi and us, some of our members left quietly to join his bandwagon,” added the members.

His sucking comes at a time when the tycoon argued that Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga were after scuttling his plans to attend the National Delegates Congress (NDC) scheduled on Friday and Saturday.

“Odinga is in cohort with President Kenyatta and they want to stop my presidential bid by whatever means,” Wanjigi said.

This was after he threatened to paralyze the meeting over the omission of the nomination exercise for the party’s presidential candidate.

He further argued that over 1,230 delegates aligned to him had not been invited to the function, decrying that it would not be conducted fairly.
