Shinyalu MP Justus Kizito was left in shock after the ODM leader Raila Odinga ordered Junet Mohammed to take away the microphone as he was addressing supporters of the ODM leader in Kakamega county.

On Sunday, March 28, Kizito’s speech was interrupted after Junet took away the microphone and instead gave it to another leader to address.

The short clip that surfaced online, clearly shows the ODM leader gesturing to Junet to take away the microphone.

“Let us give Mama County this chance to say hi to us,” Junet said after withdrawing the mic from the parliamentarian who had just greeted the crowd.

Though it is not yet known why the former prime minister issued the instructions, local politics could have played a part as the video showed some part of the crowd heckling the Shinyalu MP.

Interestingly Kizito was addressing his own constituency that he represents in parliament.

Kizito, who was visibly upset, had to move behind the podium as other leaders addressed the gathering.

ODM leader Raila Odinga was on a vote-hunting mission in Western Kenya for 5 days last week in the company of leaders such as Wycliffe Oparanya, Peter Kenneth, Francis Atwoli among others.

The Azimio la Umoja presidential candidate promised Western Kenya residents that he will revive sugar companies in the region if elected the 5th president of Kenya on August 9.

The Shinyalu lawmaker had initially declared his interest in Kakamega gubernatorial seat but the endorsement of Fernandes Barasa by the ODM leader has complicated his political arithmetics.

Speaking during a rally in the Khwisero constituency on Saturday, March 26, the former prime minister said that Barasa has what it takes to take over for Wycliffe Oparanya.

“We have Fernandes Barasa here…he is enough or not? As we pass the baton to Barasa, Oparanya and I will go to Nairobi where he will help me work from there,” Raila said.
