Raila praises Martha Karua’s calmness during debate with Rigathi Gachagua

President William Ruto’s UDA party on Tuesday, October 3, submitted its proposal to the National Dialogue Committee (NDC) at the Bomas of Kenya.

On Tuesday, July 19, presidential front runner Raila Odinga’s running mate Martha Karua faced off with Deputy President William Ruto’s 2022 presidential running mate Rigathi Gachagua.

During the second part of the presidential debate that lasted nearly 90 minutes, the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party presidential running mate Martha Karua expressed boldness as she tackled businessman-cum-politician Rigathi Gachagua.

Unlike Gachagua who appeared temperamental in the way he articulated issues, Karua commonly known as the Iron Lady stayed calm during the debate with Gachagua.

In a statement on Wednesday, July 20, Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya Coalition party presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga heaped praises on his presidential running mate Martha Karua for her staller performance in the 2022 presidential running mate debate.

The former Prime Minister who is giving his fifth and last attempt at the presidency in the August 9, General Election said he was proud of Karua’s calmness during the running mates debate.

Raila said he was impressed by the Narc Kenya party leader Martha Karua for her composure despite aggravations from William Ruto’s running mate Rigathi Gachagua.

He said Karua perfectly voiced her points clearly and in line with the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party manifesto.

“Your poise, mastery of subject matters, and staying calm even when provoked were impressive. I congratulate my able deputy and team member Martha Karua,

“The Azimio family stands proud of your performance during last night’s debate,” Raila Odinga said in a Tweet.

In the debate, Karua exuded confidence in Raila Odinga’s track record, saying that coupled with her record, they are best placed to take the country forward.

“I will be a deputy president who is respectful to the Constitution, the people of Kenya, of my principal, and a person who will obey the rule of law, and do the best to support my captain to deliver for this country,” she said.
