Raila strongly warned against matching to State House ‘it’s treason’

by Enock Ndayala

Opposition leader Raila Odinga is not Monday, March 20, expected to officially kick off mass action protests against President William Ruto’s government.

The former Prime Minister last week said he will lead the protests himself and explained that the action will involve company boycotts, strikes, and sit-ins in government offices including the State House.

However, seasoned constitutional lawyer PLO Lumumba on Wednesday, March 15, urged the opposition leader to ignore calls by his close allies to storm the State House.

Speaking on the JKLive show, said by storming the State House Raila will not only taint his political image, legacy, and reputation which he has spent decades building, but he will have also committed treason.

“If that is going to happen on March 20, I dare say without mincing words that the opposition led by Raila is actually saying that they are going to overthrow the government of Kenya and that is treason,” Lumumba said.

The constitutional lawyer further added that should Odinga and his followers follow through on their threats and breach State House then all hell will break loose.

“If there is a march on State House on the 20th and God forbid that the mob succeeds in getting into State House and imagine that someone is shot dead and there is a stampede there will be a blood bath and Kenya will never be the same again. What happens on the 21st? What is the endgame?” he posed.

The five-time presidential candidate says he wants to reclaim their stolen supreme power after the August 2022 Presidential poll. He says he was the rightful winner, even though the Supreme Court ruled that Ruto won.

“Take note that on 20 March, we have a date with destiny in Nairobi. We shall stage a massive procession in Nairobi for a legitimate and inclusive government,” Raila announced to supporters.
