ODM leader Raila Odinga has scolded One Kenya Alliance (OKA) principal Musalia Mudavadi for criticizing his KSh 6k social protection fund.
The former Prime Minister who was in Kwale to popularise his quest to replace retiring President Uhuru Kenyatta in the 2022 General Election said those opposing his social protection fund were beneficiaries of graft which he intends to end once he ascends to power.
“I will launch the KSh 6, 000 social protection fund per household once I win. I will break the corruption cartels and raise enough money to operate this fund,” Raila said.
This comes barely days after the Amani National Congress (ANC) party leader Musalia Mudavadi asked presidential hopeful Raila Odinga to stop lying to Kenyans as he positions himself to be Kenya’s fifth president.
Speaking on Sunday, November 14, at the Quakers Friends International Centre on Ngong Road, Nairobi County, the former Vice president slammed Raila Odinga’s promise of a KSh 6,000-a-month stipend to poor families if he is elected.
“I have heard some politicians promising a social welfare economy model by getting KSh 6, 000. My question is; where will they get this money? They are simply lying to voters for the sake of votes,” Mudavadi said.
Speaking on Tuesday, November 16, during rallies at Kanana in Lunga Lunga sub-county and Ukunda in Msambweni sub-county Raila in an indirect attack at Musalia Mudavadi said those opposed to his promise are afraid because they are the ones behind the corruption deals in the government.
The opposition leader called on locals to join his ‘Azimio la Umoja’ initiative that he says will change the socio-economic development of this nation.
Raila also took issue with Deputy President William Ruto, claiming he would grab most of the land should he ascend to power.
“The other candidate opposing me has a direct interest in Coastal land therefore he is a major threat to residents of this area,” Raila said.
