ODM Director of Communication Philip Etale has hit out at ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi for making public his decision not to attend Raila Odinga’s event where the ODM leader is expected to declare whether or not he will vie for the presidency in 2022.

This was after the former vice president took to his social media account to say he will not honour Raila Odinga’s invitation to Kasarani on Friday, December 10.

In a quick rejoinder however, Etale said the One Kenya Alliance lacked etiquette after taking private matter public.

Raila aide blasts Mudavadi for publicly declining invitation to Odinga's event
ODM Director of Communication Philip Etale has chastised ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi for publicly turning down an invitation to Odinga’s event.

He said Mudavadi was invited personally and that it could have been good if he could use the same channel used to decline the invite rather than doing it through social media.

“When the invitation card was issued, it wasn’t posted on social media. It was not even shown on TV. It was between the sender and the receiver. Tuwache kubehave kama watoi jameni (Let’s stop behaving like children),” Etale said in a Tweet.

While acknowledging to have been personally invited to attend Raila Odinga’s declaration, the ANC leader said he will not attend the the event due to personal engagements.

“I have just received an official invitation to Azimio la Umoja Convention. As noted herein, the invitation was addressed in my personal capacity as ANC Party Leader and not OKA Principal. Regrettably, I will not be able to attend because of personal engagements,

“Raila Odinga is a worthy competitor, I wish him well because tomorrow will clearly be his day in the sun,” Mudavadi said.

While Mudavadi cited personal engagements, it is clear many of his advisors have been against him showing any form of support towards President Uhuru Kenyatta’s preferred successor.

The opposition chief is on Friday, December 10, expected to declare whether or not he will be vying for the presidency in the 2022 General Election in an event where more than 60,000 delegates from across the world are expected to attend.
