Raila’s daughter acknowledges her father lost presidency to Ruto

by Enock Ndayala

Opposition leader Raila Odinga’s Chief Presidential Agent in the 2022 elections Saitabao Ole Kanchory disclosed potential reasons that could have cost his boss the presidency.

In his book titled Why Baba Is Not The 5th, Kanchory said the power struggle between the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition negatively affected Raila’s chances of succeeding his handshake partner Uhuru Kenyatta.

He said that the tussle between then interior PS Karanja Kibicho and ex-ICT CS Joe Mucheru demotivated senior government officials in former president Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration who became disinterested in the Azimio la Umoja campaigns.

In his 139-page book, Kanchory, who is a lawyer by profession further stated Raila’s move to unveil a shadow cabinet worked in favor of his bitter rival William Ruto.

“The fact that these top officials, some of whom were expected to deliver a Raila presidency, were not guaranteed a place in Raila’s government meant the campaigns and the ancillary operations, like the command center, offered the last chance to shore up their financial standing,” reads excerpts of the 139-page book.

Commenting on the dossier, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s daughter Winnie Odinga indirectly acknowledged that indeed her father lost the presidency to William Ruto.

In a text message shared with Kanchory, the East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA) MP commended him for telling the truth terming him as a Moran who dared to say things as they were.

“The truth is the truth and only a moran has the balls to say it. Hongera,” she said.

Winnie said she was torn between three things around the book.

“I am torn between feelings, vindication, and timing,” the 32-year-old last-born daughter to Raila said.
