Manyatta Member of Parliament Gitonga Mukunji said by skipping President Ruto’s State House meeting, Raila’s daughter confirmed that she was not competent to discharge her duties as the legislator for the Arusha-based parliament.

He said as such, he will institute the process of recalling Winnie Odinga from the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA).

“All members of EALA yesterday met  the president and CS in charge of East Africa Region and they were there to get a mandate of our standing as a country on issues of East Africa community but our shock Winnie Odinga wasn’t there,

“It is a shame that we still carry ourselves with boundaries that we should not carry ourselves with, politics are over,” the UDA legislator said.

On Monday, December 5, the Head of State was scheduled to meet all the nine elected EALA MPs at State House in Nairobi ahead of their swearing-in later this month.

However, Winnie Odinga did not attend the meeting raising speculations from the members of the public as well as those from the political class.

Reached for comment, Raila’s daughter defended herself after she was faulted for not honoring President Ruto’s invitation.

She said she was engaged on the day the meeting was being conducted by her father’s political rival William Ruto.

Winnie, who is the last-born daughter of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga further said that she was informed of the meeting on a material day, hence she could not make it as she had already been booked with other assignments.

“I think people are making a storm out of a teacup. The meeting was at short notice and I was unavailable,” she said.
