President William Ruto on Monday, December 5, hosted Members of Parliament who were last month elected to the Arusha-based parliament.

On Thursday, November 17, Kenya elected nine MPs to the East Africa Legislative Assembly (EALA).

Out of the nine who were elected only eight attended President Ruto’s meeting at State House ahead of their swearing-in on Wednesday, December 21 in Arusha.

Conspicuously missing from the attendees was Winnie Odinga, the last-born daughter to Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party presidential candidate Raila Odinga.

Former Mombasa Senator Hassan Omar, former nominated MP David Sankok, former Nandi Woman Rep Zipporah Kering, Youth Leader Mwangi Maina, and Iman Falhada were all present.

On the Azimio camp, former Kieni MP Kanini Kega, Mombasa Businessman Suleiman Shabal and Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s son Kennedy Musyoka were present all.

During the meeting, the Head of State urged the legislators to put aside their political differences and work as a team for the betterment of our country.

“When we talk about trade and investment, there are no political parties; do your best for our country and economy,” the President said.

The president further asked the members to advocate for the peace of the region saying that it is the only way that would bring in more investors hence expanding the interest of the East African member states.

“The economic expansion of the Community is in the best interest of all nations and citizens of East Africa,” Ruto added.

Kivumbi.co.ke understands that Raila’s daughter seriously campaigned for President Ruto’s bitter rival in the hotly contested August 9, elections.

In her latest media interview, Winnie Odinga insisted that her father was the August 9, presidential election.

She however stated that she has evidence of how the United State of America bungled the presidential results in favor of President William Ruto.

“Have you ever won virtual reality glasses? That is what Kenya is to them. You put it on and you play. Kenya is like a PlayStation to them,” she said.
