Raila’s deputy party leader to abandon him in 2027

Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party presidential candidate Raila Odinga dropped the clearest hint he will face President William Ruto in 2027.

Raila who was addressing mourners at the burial of his wife’s bodyguard in Siaya County ruled out retiring from active politics even after losing his fifth presidential attempt to William Ruto in the August 9, elections.

However, ODM party deputy leader Wycliffe Oparanya on Tuesday, November 22, told his boss Raila Odinga to forget his help should he vie for the presidency in 2027.

According to a report by the People Daily, the immediate former Kakamega Governor would henceforth channel his energies to uniting the Mulembe nation.

“I am offering myself to lead our people’s unity drive. I am done with Raila, and even if he badmouths me, God forbid, he knows he will not be forgiven,” Oparanya said.

Oparanya, who led the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party Western Kenya vote hunt during the August polls, noted that the Luhya community had supported Raila in the five successive elections in vain.

Addressing mourners at Ichinga village, Mmias East Su County during the burial of the Nominated MCA, Oparanya said it was now time for the Mulembe nation to chart a different political destiny to be able to be in government after the 2027 General Election.

He took issues with Raila over what he termed as betraying the trust of the Mulembe nation adding that their support and endorsements did not count in the sharing of election spoils.

“The results of that vote (EALA) are that all the other bigger tribes but the Luhya sent an MP to EALA. So Kenya has nine seats in EALA shared in the ratio 5:4 between Kenya Kwanza and Azimio,” Oparanya said.

The ODM deputy party leader wondered how the Western region missed out on EALA slots despite overwhelming support for Raila in the August 9, elections.
