Raila Odinga Junior, the son of ODM leader Raila Odinga has sensationally claimed that his father only needs the Murang’a votes to win the presidency.
Taking to social media before his father’s rally at Ihura stadium, Raila Junior was upbeat that the ODM leader Raila Odinga will win the August 9 presidential election if the Murang’a people voted for him to add to his traditional political strongholds.
“How are you people of Murang’a? Murang’a alone is enough to make BABA (Raila Odinga) boss,” Junior wrote on Twitter.
The popular Murang’a County has never voted for Raila Odinga in large numbers in his previous four attempts at the presidency.
During the 2017 General Election, the ODM leader only managed 9,122 votes while his handshake brother President Uhuru Kenyatta got a whopping 498,288 votes.
Raila Odinga has been traversing the county making two visits in a week as he tries to get a sizeable share of the over 600,000 votes.
During the meeting with the elected leaders and other opinion leaders from the county, on Monday, January 24, the ODM leader promised to tackle water shortage problems if elected the president in the August State House race.
Although the majority of leaders from the region have pledged to support his presidential bid, the ODM still has work to do bearing in mind his main competitor DP Ruto has equally been traversing the county.
In the morning hours, ODM leader Raila Odinga visited his in-laws in Kandara, Murang’a County.
Raila was accompanied by his son, Raila Junior, who is married to a member of the Kandara family who are the founders of the Riara Group of Schools.
Kakamega Governor Wycliffe Oparanya also accompanied the former prime minister during the morning visit.
