Raila’s wife calls out Lang’ata MP for dumping her husband

by Enock Ndayala
Lang’ata MP Phelix Odiwuor alias Jalang'o has for the first time spoken on how he navigated the stormy nominations of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party.

Lang’ata MP Felix Odiwour commonly known as Jalang’o in February 2023 dumped former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s ODM party for President William Ruto’s Kenya Kwanza.

The comedian-cum politician was among the eight legislators who met President William Ruto on Tuesday, February 7, despite a warning from the party leader not to visit State House until given green light by the party.

Although Jalang’o defended his meeting with the Head of state, saying the meeting was more based on the development agenda for his constituents in Lang’ata, the move appeared not to have settled well with close allies of Raila including his wife Ida Odinga.

Speaking on Monday, during the wedding of popular musician and businesswoman Esther Akoth, popularly known as Akothee, opposition leader Raila Odinga’s wife Ida Odinga scolded the first-time legislator for dumping her husband.

Ida further wondered why the youthful legislator disowned her husband who has on record been questioning the legitimacy of President William Ruto.

“I am so happy to see some of my best friends and some of them were best friends until the elections. One of them is Jalang’o. You know the rule.

“My brother Jalang’o, you know the road. Busia-Kisumu road. It separates your home from my home. We come from the same village. You can disown, really?” Ida Odinga said.

Two days ago, Lang’ata MP said he is set to become the first president hailing from the Luo region if Raila Odinga fails to clinch the seat in the next election expected to take place in 2027.

“One thing I know [is] that one day, and I have started using that hashtag IpoSiku if Baba will not be the president I will be the first Luo president,” he told Behind the Mic host Cynthia Mwangi. “All I pray for is life. The day you will see my poster, Jalang’o running for president, I will be the Commander in Chief.”
