Retired Vice President Moody Awori asks Raila to let President Ruto work

by Enock Ndayala

Former vice president Moody Awori has asked opposition leader Raila Odinga to let President William work for Kenyans.

Speaking on Monday, March 13, 2023, when he hosted Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi at his Nairobi residence Awori called out ODM leader Raila Odinga for claiming that William Ruto is the president in an acting capacity.

The former Vice president maintained that William Ruto won the 2022 presidential elections stating that Raila was after “creating sideshows to distract the focus of government to deliver on its pledges.”

“Kenya Kwanza won the elections in its manifesto and the manifesto emphasized the needs of the ordinary mwananchi. I am delighted to see that that is the direction it is going because we need unity. Sideshows; we need to leave them,

“We need to leave [political] sideshows. Elections are gone and a new government [Kenya Kwanza] is now in place. Let us always work together and ensure our Constitution is respected and all shall be well,” Awori said.

On his part, Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi said it was a great pleasure to catch up with Awori, who was Vice President in the late President Mwai Kibaki’s administration.

The former ANC party leader said he gained a lot of insight into how to move the country forward during their discussions.

“We have discussed quite a number of things about the country and a number of international matters. I am so delighted that I have gained a lot of insight from his perspective on what we should do and what we should focus on as a country, moving forward,” said Mudavadi.

Awori’s remarks come just days after opposition leader Raila Odinga launched mass protests to force President William Ruto’s regime out of office.
