by Enock Ndayala

Busia Governor Sospeter Ojaamong has hinted at unseating Teso South Member of Parliament Geoffrey Omuse in the August 9, General Election.

In an apparent move to keep his political career alive, Ojaamong who is serving his second and last constitutional term limit said he is too young to retire.

While announcing his ambition, the county boss in a Facebook post on Monday, February 21, said he was still traversing and making consultations with the people of Teso South.

“I am still making consultations on my plans to vie for the Teso South Parliamentary seat in the August 9th, 2022 general elections,

“I am traversing the constituency to seek views of the electorates before making an informed decision,” Ojaamong said.

Ojaamong who is among the more than 20 governors who would be retiring in August noted that there was a need to steer the constituency to greater heights instead of only relying on the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

“During my interaction with the residents, I found out that there is a lot that is needed to steer the constituency to greater heights instead of only relying on Constituency Development Fund,” he added.

The outgoing county chief further said he will convene a meeting with all aspirants seeking to succeed him to find a gubernatorial candidate who would not only act as a symbol of unity but would also bring development to the residents.

“A meeting will be convened to address the need to elect a gubernatorial candidate who will embrace unity instead of causing division among communities,” he said.

In October 2021, the 64-year-old Siaya Governor Cornel Rasanga who is serving his second and last constitutional term had announced plans to unseat the Alego Usoga MP Samuel Atandi but later pulled out of the race.
