Endebess MP Robert Pukose has sensationally claimed that the lawmakers were bribed to a tune of KSh 100k to pass the Political Parties (Amendment) Bill 2021.

On Wednesday, December 28, 155 Members of Parliament voted to approve clause 6 of the Political Parties Amendment Bill 2021 that ratifies the formation of a Coalition Party.

Only 127 MPs – all Tangatanga- voted against the provision.

But while addressing his constituents in Endebess on Sunday, January 2, Pukose said the Bill has ill motives and is meant to paralyze William Ruto’s chances of assuming the presidency after the August General Election.

The legislator who is serving his second term however did not reveal who and when the Handshake team was bribed to endorse the controversial bill.

He said the Tanga Tanga faction is well prepared to ensure the Bill does not sail through ahead of the upcoming General Election.

“As the supporters of the DP, we are prepared to ensure that the Bill does not go through because it is meant to weaken political party’s internal democracy,” Pukose said.

He said even if the Bill which is being pushed by Jubilee and ODM legislators sails through, they are more than ready to challenge it in the Kenyan courts.

“Even if the bill is pushed through the back door, we will proceed to Kenyan courts to seek justice,” he added.

This is not the first time legislators are claiming that some of them are being bribed to endorse s bill before the house.

In May 2021, Gatundu South Member of Parliament Moses Kuria claimed that legislators in the National Assembly were given up to KSh 100,000 each to vote in support of the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI bill).

“MPs voting YES currently receiving their 100K from the office of a senior parliamentary leader,” Kuria said during the voting of the Bill.
