Kenya’s President William Ruto has fired salvos at those critiquing his new tax measures.

Presidential front runners William Ruto and Raila Odinga are expected to face off in round two of the 2022 presidential debate.

There are doubts about whether the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga will participate in the debate slated for today.

On Sunday, July 24, Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party flag bearer Raila Odinga’s Campaign Secretariat Spokesman Makau Mutua said the former Premier cannot debate someone who has no regard for ethics and public morals.

Mutua said the former Prime Minister cannot participate in an exercise where his rival William Ruto is dictating what kind of questions are to be asked.

Speaking during the Kenya Kwanza Alliance campaign in Kesses Constituency on Monday, July 25, Ruto, who had threatened to give the debate a wide berth insisted that Raila should attend the debate.

While urging Raila not to skip the presidential debate scheduled today Tuesday, July 16, the former Eldoret North MP said his challenger has a lot to explain to Kenyans.

“I want to encourage my competitor, tafadhali wewe kuja kwa debate mimi nakungojea kwa debate kwasababu wakenya wanataka kujua hii Tibim na Tialala ni kitu gani (you come to the debate, I am waiting for you at the debate because Kenyans want to know what this Tibim and Tialala means),” Ruto
