Deputy President William Ruto dismissed Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi during his tour of the County on Monday, November 15 amid cheers from supporters who attended his rally.

The 2022 presidential contender told Kiraitu to stop selling Raila Odinga’s presidential bid in Meru and move with the trend, which is joining the United Democratic Alliance (UDA)

He argued that the Meru governor is imposing Raila Odinga on the electorates instead of allowing them to choose their preferred presidential candidate.

Deputy President William Ruto dismissed Meru Governor Kiraitu Murungi during his tour of the County on Monday, November 15.

“We, 8 million people, have we lacked someone to lead us? We don’t have brains?…why are they are bringing that man of parables (Raila Odinga) to lead us? That is disrespectful,

“We have formed the government twice,  developed the country, all over a sudden someone (Kiraitu Murungi) is bring us, someone else to lead us,” William Ruto said.

He protested imposing Raila Odinga on the Meru residents, saying that he is a destructive man.

“Someone who throws stones, destroys railway lines, breaks parties.. to lead us? No, Kiraitu should stop joking with us, don’t take us for fools,” Ruto added.

Ruto’s speech drew a sharp response from Kiraitu Murungi, who accused him of spreading politics of hate.

Kiraitu argued that the Meru residents will not benefit from Ruto’s presidency since he has no proper policies in place.

“We must refrain from politics of hate and unnecessary invitation. The people of Meru want policies that will benefit them post 2022,

“they want to hear policies on miraa, tea, coffee, milk among other economic policies. Not shallow empty rhetoric,” Kiraitu Murungi wrote in a tweet.

The sentiments come amid William Ruto’s tour of the Mt Kenya region to popularise his bottom-up economic model.

In his tour of the Mt Kenya region, Ruto has gone bare knuckles on Raila Odinga, warning residents against electing him.
