Ruto beats Raila in a presidential poll conducted by political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi

by Amos Khaemba

Kenya Kwanza alliance presidential flag bearer William Ruto has emerged as the best presidential candidate according to an opinion poll conducted by political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi.

According to the poll by the vocal analyst, the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party presidential flag bearer Raila Odinga will be defeated during the first round of the election.

Out of 89,715 those who participated in the Twitter survey, 51 % said they will vote for DP Ruto in the coming August General Elections.

From the survey, Ruto will get 50 % + 1 vote as instituted by the constitutional for one to be declared a winner in round one.

The former prime minister garnered 41 %, with 3% of the respondents saying they are undecided on whoever they will vote for as the president come August 9.

The polls being generic, they did not provide the performance of the candidates in terms of counties meaning it is hard to point out of any will get 25 % of the total votes cast in each of more than half the 47 counties.

It’s quite interesting to note that Mutahi Ngunyi has said on several occasions that the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party presidential candidate will win the August elections.

The findings by Ngunyi mirror, two other polls conducted by Radio Africa Group, and political analyst David Makali used similar data collection techniques.

Out of 33,722 participants who took part in David Makali’s survey, 56 % said they vote for DP Ruto while only 39 % supported Raila Odinga.

In another poll done by The Star Newspaper, the William Ruto and Rigathi Gacagua ticket still emerged more popular than the Raila Odinga-Martha Karua ticket.

Out of the 70,210 participants, 50% of them said they will vote for Ruto-Gacagua during the August polls.

On the hand, 43% of them said they will cast their vote in favor of the ODM leader who will be deputized by Martha Karua.

The findings of then three polls differ from that of the well-known survey firms whose findings have consistently shown a tight race no one is likely to win in round one of the election
