Ruto’s footsoldiers attack EACC after reports Anne Waiguru could be arrested

Deputy President William Ruto’s footsoldiers reacted angrily to reports that their newly-signed member Anne Waiguru might be arrested over a corruption scandal.

The members of UDA party trained their guns on the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, accusing it of being politically manipulated.

Nakuru Senator Susan Kihika urged Waiguru not to be bothered by the impending arrest, saying it was expected since she joined William Ruto’s camp.

“Dear Anne Waiguru hang in there, this is the weaponized fight against corruption we talk of. It’s meant to intimidate you & anyone else wanting to cross over. Who will tell these idiots we can see thru their silly ploys? EACC lost its independence long ago & is just a dog for hire,” Kihika wrote.

Her Elgeyo Marakwet counterpart Kipchumba Murkomen warned the EACC against prosecuting Anne Waiguru, saying such witchhunt will destroy the commission.

“EACC will be committing a blunder of monumental proportion if they charge  Anne Waiguru at this point in time in a desperate effort to force governors to support the project (Raila Odinga). If EACC continues to play politics instead of exercising their independence, they will destroy themselves,” Murkomen wrote.

Ruto’s footsoldiers were responding to a report in People daily newspaper stating that Waiguru could be arrested at the course of next week.

This is after the EACC gathered evidence to link Waiguru and a number of Kirinyaga County Assembly members to a KSh 52 Milion land scandal.

On her part, Anne Waiguru held that the witch hunt was orchestrated because she joined William Ruto’s political camp.

“Surely, barely 48hrs after we decamped to UDA & now this? As a believer in the rule of law, this is unfortunate. Its intention is to dissuade those contemplating the same & an attempt at engineering succession politics. it won’t work. Kenyans are not stupid. There is God in heaven,” she said.
