Ruto’s supporters protest over KSh 2 million donated by the DP

High Court Judge Justice Chacha Mwita said the National Security Council has no mandate to deploy police officers to another country.

Businesses were brought to a standstill in Makueni for the better part of Monday, December 20, after William Ruto’s supporters took to the streets protesting over KSh 2 million donated by the deputy president.

On Friday, December 10, the deputy president continued to make inroads in Makueni County to popularise his bottom-up economic model among residents of small trading centers where he donated KSh 2 million to the hustlers.

However, almost two weeks now, William Ruto’s supporters were yet to get their share, a move that angered them prompting them to take to the streets.

Businesses were brought to a standstill in Makueni for the better part of Monday, December 20, after William Ruto’s supporters took to the streets protesting over KSh 2 million donated by the deputy president.

Speaking to KTN News, the hustlers accused directors and coordinators of the deputy president of shortchanging them.

“The deputy president donated that money to boda boda operators but it disappeared,” one of the protesters angrily said.

Another BodaBoda rider said coordinators of William Ruto had asked all the hustlers to organize themselves to make the process of distribution smooth but they (coordinators) have since vanished with the donation.

“For us, we even organized ourselves but those conmen who are hiding in UDA say they distributed the money in a police station but that is not true,” he said.

On her part, a Mama Mboga said it was unfortunate that they were conned under the bottom-up economics.

“You (Ruto) gave us those people as coordinators but they are selfish thieves,” she noted.

Last month, chaos erupted in Muriri Muthara, Tigania East sub-county Meru County after bodaboda riders and mama mboga clashed over William Ruto’s KSh 600k handout.

It was suspected that during William Ruto’s visit to Meru County on Friday, November 19, the presidential hopeful promised to empower Boda Boda operators and Mama mboga with KSh 600k.

But it later emerged that the 2022 presidential candidate did not release the said cash as promised, something that could have angered the would-be beneficiaries.
