Scare as Nakuru woman breaches security trying to reach President Uhuru

Cases of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s security being breached have been on the rise in the recent past despite being the most guarded person in the country.

On Friday, May 20, 2021, Uhuru’s security was breached while commissioning the first berth at Lamu Port where an intruder appeared from the crowd and seemingly confronted the Head of State.

Prior to that, a civilian motor vehicle joined Uhuru’s motorcade while he was heading to State House after attending the late Kiambaa MP, Paul Koinange‘s, funeral.

On Tuesday, July 26, Kenya’s President Uhuru Kenyatta who was commissioning the refurbishment of Nakuru Railways Station almost encountered another security scare.

This was after an unknown woman temporarily halted Uhuru’s speech as he highlighted the gains made by the Jubilee’s 10 years stint in government.

While at the middle of his speech, the unidentified woman shouted “Uhuru, we love you” as she sought attention from the President.

Uhuru then suspended his speech and replied in jest “I love you too. Asante (Thank you).”

After the first in command concluded his speech, the woman again emerged from the crowd this time round seeking an audience with the President.

As she appeared to move closer to the podium where the president was, the guards immediately swang into action and blocked the woman from meeting his ‘loved president.’

The guards almost roughed her up for causing a security breach but the Head of State intervened.

The Jubilee party leader instead asked the guards to handle her well before he engages her shortly.

“Ngoka Kidogo. Nitakuona, tulia. Wachaneni na yeye. Keti Chini mummy, nitakuona (Kindly wait; I’ll hear what you have to say after this meeting. Please don’t manhandle her. Please sit down mum, I’ll accord you attention,” Uhuru said.

Uhuru is guarded by the Presidential Escort Unit (PEU). The unit was specifically established to protect the President, his deputy, visiting Heads of State, and other VIPs. PEU officers receive orders from the Inspector General of Police.

The unit has over 200 law enforcement officers drawn from the Recce and General Service Unit (GSU). Their training is top-notch and thorough.
