Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi has vowed to give Deputy President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga a run for their money in the 2022 presidential race.

Speaking to Citizen TV on Thursday, December 16, Wamatangi urged other like-minded leaders to join him stating that he will officially be launching his presidential bid in January 2022.

“Come next year, I will be launching and those who aspire to good leadership should come and join us,” Kiambu Senator said.

Kiambu Senator Kimani Wamatangi has vowed to give Deputy President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga a run for their money in the 2022 presidential race.

Wamatangi who is serving his second term exuded confidence that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA), a party heavily associated with William Ruto and Raila Odinga’s Azimio la Umoja may join him.

“It is important for me to set the record straight that you will all see we have got good stuff for this country and so don’t be surprised that people like Azimio la Umoja and UDA may all want to join us, not us joining them,” Wamatangi said.

The legislator however did not reveal which party he will be using to seek the presidency stating that for now, he is still in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee party and that he will unveil his outfit at the right time.

It was earlier reported that the Jubilee senator would be vying for the Kiambu gubernatorial seat but it appears that the gubernatorial seat will be too hot for him since former Kiambu Governors William Kabog and Ferdinand Waititu will be hoping to recapture the seatback.

Wamatangi joins the already crowded seat and he is expected to battle it out with One Kenya Alliance principals Musalia Mudavadi (ANC), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), and Moses Wetang’ula (Ford Kenya).

Others seeking to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta who is expected to retire after serving his second and last constitutional term include Speaker of the National Assembly Justin Muturi, two-time presidential aspirant Nickson Kukubo, Kiambu Bishop Zablon Karanja Mbugua, Murang’a Governor Mwangi Wa Iria, and former Kimilili MP Mukhisa Kituyi.
