Senator Kindiki Kithure to take a break from politics after Kenya Kwanza disappointment

Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki has announced that he will take a break from active politics beginning August 10 following the failure of Deputy President William Ruto to name him his running mate.

The Kenya Kwanza presidential candidate settled out the Mathira MP Rigathi Gacagua as his running mate in a stalemate that lasted 17 hours.

Addressing the press in a Nairobi hotel, on Monday 16, Kindiki said he will be relaxing as he reflects on his future and prepare for a comeback.

“I have decided to take a break from elective politics. I will take the break to reorganize myself as I support my party to deliver the presidency,” Kindiki said.

Kindiki further revealed that he will not be seeking an appointment in Ruto’s government. after the August election.

“I will not be seeking any appointive position whatsoever. However, I will be available to seek any position in the future that may be available at the national level,” he added.

The soft-spoken senator noted he had accepted the decision reached by the Kenya Kwanza alliance on the position of running mate and that he will continue campaigning for the alliance until they win elections on August 9.

“At this moment when our country is at the Culp of change, I will join Deputy President William Ruto and Rigathi Gachagua to deliver a decisive victory,

“As a person, I believe that I rather not score in a team that is going to win than scoring in a team that is going to lose.” Kindiki started.

Yesterday, the Tharaka Nithi senator was conspicuously missing at Deputy President William Ruto’s Karen residence during the unveiling of Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua as Ruto’s running mate.

While unveiling Gachagua, the Kenya Kwanza presidential candidate praised Kindiki, alluding to his absence without offering any explanation.

“I want to thank my lawyer and friend Abraham Kithure Kindiki who became the runner up. Even though the current senator of Tharaka Nithi is not here with us now, he brought a lot of passion to this contest, “ Ruto said.
