Senator Malala’s tough warning to William Ruto after fielding aspirant in Mudavadi’s backyard

by Enock Ndayala

Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has asked Kenya Kwanza presidential flag bearer William Ruto not to interfere with Western Kenya political affairs in the build-up to the August 9, General Election.

This was after it emerged that the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party led by the deputy president would field a candidate in the Sabatia constituency, which is ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi‘s backyard.

In a video seen by Kivumbi.co.ke, the outspoken lawmaker publicly said William Ruto’s interference could affect the chances of the ANC outfit from delivering the 70 percent of the total votes cast.

ANC and Ford Kenya parties were asked to deliver at least 70 percent of the total votes cast for the region to get at least 30 percent stake in the UDA government should it form the next government.

“We have given you top seats as UDA; please don’t interfere in our bedrooms. Let’s respect each other,

“You have told us to bring 70 percent of the votes in Western Kenya in exchange for 30 percent of the national government, so all the 70% must also involve ANC and Ford-Kenya parliamentarians the same way we have left the higher seats for UDA,” said Malala.

The senator who is eying to succeed Governor Wycliffe Oparanya has demanded the withdrawal of Clement Siloya, the said UDA parliamentary hopeful from the Sabatia parliamentary seat in favor of ANC’s Alfred Agoi.

“That is why we in ANC and Ford Kenya have not fielded candidates in William Ruto’s backyard, which we have left for UDA. But the decision by UDA to extend its arm to Sabatia does not add up and something must be done urgently,” Malala said.
