Senator Mithika Linturi speaks after claims he sneaked into couple’s bed

by Nderi Caren

Meru Senator Mithika Linturi has responded to allegations that he sneaked into a couple’s hotel room and attempted to sleep with a woman without her knowledge as the husband was outside.

According to the Senator, he was a victim of physical assault at the Mayian Villas in Nanyuki and was being prosecuted by the DCI because of his relationship with Deputy President William Ruto.

According to the Star Newspaper, Senator Mithika Linturi was sleeping in his own room, when four men and a woman stormed in.

The legislator said they accused him of straying in another room, stripped him naked, and started to photograph him.

He said the group, that comprised of Evans, Otieno, Ndichu, and Mohammed assaulted him and demanded he settles the matter amicably by paying KSh 1 million.

He gave them Ksh 200,000 in cash and signed an agreement to add Ksh 800,000.

After the confrontation, Senator Mithika Linturi headed to Nanyuki Police station and reported the matter. He was issued a P3 form and later on, investigations into an assault case began.

However, in the process of investigations, Linturi says that the Directorate of Criminal Investigations has turned the case political.

On April 28, Senator Mithika Linturi was summoned to the DCI headquarters where he recorded statements.

There, the Meru Senator is said to have been pressured by the investigators who threatened to have him prosecute if he continued supporting William Ruto.

The Senator has stood his grounds vowing not to back out of DP Ruto’s camp despite the intimidation.

Linturi joins the long list of legislators allied to DP William Ruto who are facing criminal charges.

Members of Ruto’s Tanga Tanga camp have accused the state of charging them for flimsy offenses, just because they support the Deputy President.

After the arrest of Mathira MP Rigathi Gachagua on July 23, DP Ruto warned government officials against prosecuting corrupt individuals on the basis of their political parties.
