Siaya senator asks Kenyans to punish William Ruto for abandoning Uhuru

by Enock Ndayala

Siaya Senator James Orengo has asked Kenyans to punish Deputy President William Ruto for forsaking his boss President Uhuru Kenyatta.

Orengo said Ruto who has fallen out with the Head of State has failed to execute his constitutional roles as the second in command leaving the president to run the Jubilee government alone.

Speaking on Friday, December 24, at the home of Ugunja MP Opiyo Wandayi at a function that was attended by ODM leader Raila Odinga and his allies, the vocal senator asked Kenyans to teach William Ruto a lesson by sending him home in the 2022 polls for failing to help the President

“Ruto should have been helping President Uhuru implement government’s agenda but he has failed to do that in the last 8 years. Now that the president had a handshake with Raila Odinga, a lot could have been achieved if he (Ruto) joined hands with the President,

“I am sure Kenyans will deal with Ruto perpendicularly come next year,” Orengo said.

Speaking at the same event, former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s elder brother Oburu Odinga took a swipe at the deputy president for branding his 2022 main challenger as State Project.

Without mentioning names, the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) member said that the opposition chief cannot be a State Project since he has been his own man in past presidential elections.

“I have heard people saying that Raila is a state project. I want to tell those people that Raila has never been anybody’s project in his entire life,” Oburu said in reference to William Ruto.

He said if anybody is to be a state project then it is the deputy president and that can be proven by his political track record.

“It is Ruto who can be a project and nobody else. He was made a Secretary-General at 26 out of favor from Kanu,” Oburu said.
