Sifuna: Who can waste KSh 50 million bribing looser like singer Bahati

by Enock Ndayala
On Monday, June 27, ODM SG Edwin Sifuna revealed that Singer Bahati will be dropping out of the Mathare parliamentary contest.

Last week, Kenyan musician Kevin Bahati Kioko alleged that he was offered money to the tune of KSh 50 million to drop his parliamentary bid in the August 9, General Election.

This was after ODM Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna revealed that Singer will be dropping out of the Mathare parliamentary contest in favour of another candidate.

He said the Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party had settled on the current MP Antony Oluoch to defend his seat.

While Sifuna said that Bahati was too weak to win, the machozi hitmaker accused the ODM Secretary general of receiving a KSh 3 million bribe from Oluoch so as to confuse his supporters.

Responding to Bahati’s allegation, Sifuna on Thursday, July 7, dismissed the claims saying that nobody can waste such a huge amount on someone who was going to lose anyway.

“If there is somebody somewhere with KSh 50 million to offer Bahati, that person is not normal. For what purpose?” Sifuna posed.

Sifuna, who has in the recent past traded barbs with the singer, jokingly said he can only offer Bahati KSh 200 for a handkerchief to wipe his tears.

“I can only take KSh 200 I buy for him a handkerchief because of his tears and maybe I pay his one-year salon cost. There is nothing more to offer him,” Sifuna said.

This comes just days after Bahati was chased away at an Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition rally in Nairobi.

Nairobi gubernatorial candidate Polycarp Igathe and Sifuna were on Monday, July 4, seen gesturing Bahati to exit the stage as they caution the master of the ceremony not to hand over the microphone to him.
