Ex-governor Mike Sonko heads straight to the bar after submissions against judge Chitembwe

Former Nairobi governor Mike Sonko headed straight to an alcohol joint after tabling his accusations against Judge Said Juma Chitembwe.

On Wednesday, November 24, Sonko presented his petition to the Judicial Service Commission (JSC) seeking the judge’s ouster over allegations of impropriety and gross misconduct.

Taking to his social media pages shortly after filing the petition, Sonko who recently leaked videos implicating Justice Said Chitembwe in alleged corrupt dealings posted a video of him enjoying drinks in a bar with his friends.

Sonko however, failed to disclose the location from which he was enjoying citing security reasons.

“Watu wangu saseni(How are you my people). Having a cold drink somewhere after a long morning sitasema niwapi (I will not disclose where) due to security reasons,” Sonko said in a Tweet.

While presenting his petition, the flamboyant politician accused Chitembwe of compromising cases including his case in which he was ousted as the second Nairobi Governor.

The petition came days after JSC chairperson and Chief Justice Martha Koome directed petitions to be served to the judge within 14 days.

This came on the backdrop of a video posted by Mike Sonko raising claims of a corrupt and rotten Judiciary that hawked justice to the highest bidder.

In the video clips that were doing rounds on social media, Chitembwe was captured engaging in conversations involving the exchange of money to facilitate favorable rulings.

However, in an exclusive interview with KTN News last week, judge Chitembwe said that Sonko was trying to bring him down because of his anger after dismissing the case challenging the swearing-in of Anne Kananu as the third governor of Nairobi County.

“I have no problem with anybody because my conscience is clear. The totality of this is anger by (Mike) Sonko because he is out of the office and we cannot encourage someone who has lost to be the one kicking out judges just because he has lost,” Chitembwe said.
