South Mugirango MP Sylvanus Osoro has called on his constituents to register as voters or miss a chance to get bursaries.

Speaking during a rally on Monday, October 4, Osoro said a voters card would be a mandatory requirement during their application for bursary funds.

The South Mugirango MP said parents who do not register as voters will deny their children a chance to benefit from the bursaries under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

“In one month’s time, we will be announcing bursaries. Applications will be done using your voter’s card and not your national identification card,” he stated.

Osoro further announced that there will be a change of procedure when applying for the bursaries.

“For the young ones, you are aware that you will need to attach your father’s ID card. However, this time you will attach his voting card,” he said.

The South Mugirango MP, who is a supporter of William Ruto said that the voter registration exercise will increase his chances of being the 5th president.

“If you do not have a voters card, walk into a registration center with your ID and get a voters card. However much we love William Ruto, if we don’t have voting cards, we have not helped him,” he said.

His sentiments comes a day when the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) kicked off a mass voter registration exercise.

Individual parties have been on a drive to register new party members to increase their chances in the 2022 General Election.

This drive saw the ODM party declare that they will reward aspirants who register the most members with a direct ticket in its primaries.

“I am going to convince our party leader Raila Odinga that whoever would have registered many people shall not be subjected to a nomination exercise but will be offered a direct ticket because he would have worked for the party,” said Secretary-General Edwin Sifuna.
