by Amos Khaemba

State House director Dr. Michael Waikenda has been appointed by Moses Kuria’s party as the chair of the party’s National Election Board.

In a statement on Saturday, January 8, Chama Cha Kazi party leader announced Dr Waikenda’s appointment saying it was in accordance with the law.

“This appointment is in line with the party’s Constitution and Nomination rules and regulation that were approved by the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) and the office of the registrar of political parties.” Kuria noted.

Through his twitter handle, Kuria reveal that Dr. Waikenda who is currently the State house director of Political and Intergovernmental Affairs, will soon resign and assume his new role.

Kuria added that Dr. Waikenda and other members of the NEB will preside over the nomination exercise to pick party candidates.

He promised the exercise will be done in an open, transparent, free, fair verifiable and accountable manner.

“We wish Dr. Waikenda the best of success in this very significant national calling,” said Kuria in the statement.

Previously, Dr. Waikenda has served as the County Executive Committee member in charge of Youth Affairs, Sports and Communication in the County Government of Kiambu.

His experience in party politics is traced back in 2012 where he served as the director of communication of The National Alliance party (TNA).

The Chama Cha Kazi party leader who is currently outside the country on medication will be holding a Thanks Giving Prayers at Thika stadium on 19th, February.

It will be a prayer meeting not a political rally, Kuria pointed out on his twitter handler. “I can’t lock anyone out. If they cook my goose eat it for me please,” Kuria said.
