Kakamega Senator Cleophas Malala has threatened to paralyze COTU Boss Francis Atwoli’s much-hyped Bukhungu meeting slated for Friday, December 31.
On Thursday, December 2, Atwoli had announced he will host a second Bukhungu stadium rally dubbed ‘Bukhungu 2’ to declare the Luhya political spokesperson ahead of the 2022 elections.
But speaking on Sunday, December 26, at the Vihiga Cultural Festival, Malala said the Bukhungu 2 meeting will not go on as planned unless the vocal unionists get permission from ANC leader Musalia Musadavadi.
“You all know that Kakamega is my political territory. I want to tell the organizers of the said meeting that they must seek Mudavadi’s permission or else their meeting will not happen,
“But because Mudavadi has not given me a nod to allow them to convene their forum, I have officially called it off and no such meeting will happen at the Bukhungu Stadium on the 31st of December,” Malala said.
The outspoken legislator further revealed the Luyhia spokesperson to be unveiled has reportedly vowed to give the forum a wide berth.
“I have heard you (Musalia Mudavadi) saying that you will not attend the meeting,” he stated.
But in a quick rejoinder, the trade unionist took to his official social media pages stating that Malala is a junior senator who does not have the political ability to call off such a big meeting.
“You are a junior Senator who has neither the capacity to speak on behalf of the Luhya community nor the ability to call on and off such a meeting. The Bukhungu II meeting brings together ALL progressive leaders and locals from the 5 counties in the region,” Atwoli said in a Tweet seen by Kivumbi.co.ke.
